Nexus 5 modded to run on OnePlus One’s CyanogenMod 11S

The very same folks that ported the Android L developer preview to the Nexus 4 and HTC One M7 have now managed another impressive feat. XDA developers have succeeded in porting the CyanogenMod 11S from the OnePlus One to the Google Nexus 5. CyanogenMod 11S is a custom firmware based on the Android 4.4.4 operating system. There are currently no known issues with this port and pretty much all the features are working as intended. Not only that, but version 1.1 of the CyanogenMod 11S port comes with a fix for the Torch application and also fixes incompatibility with apps in Google Play. Meanwhile, the latest version (1.2) takes care of any potential installation problems. We assume that more versions with other improvements will also be released sometime in the future. If you want your Nexus 5 to run on the OnePlus One OS follow the instructions below.

• 1.- Make sure you have the latest TWRP recovery installed, if you don’t you can download it here (CWM and PhilZ also works)
• 2.- Download the CyanogenMod 11S for Nexus 5 ROM from here.
• 3.-Take the zip file you downloaded and place it on your phone’s internal storage memory.
• 4.- Reboot into recovery mode by switching off your Nexus 5 and then holding the power and volume down buttons together to enter fastboot mode. Once you’re there choose the recovery option.
• 5.- Wipe System, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik-Cache and Wipe Data (Only in new installations).
• 6.- Install the ROM.
• 7.- Reboot your Nexus 5 and enjoy.

We do have to warn you that there is a chance your device might be damaged by doing this so think carefully before you attempt to install the port. This port was created by developers who have ample knowledge of such things so if you don’t have any previous experience with installing software on a smartphone you may wish to reconsider. That being said, a Nexus 5 running on Cyanogen Mod is not something you see everything and we’re curious to see what other operating systems will the XDA team port in the future. As mentioned, these are the very same folks that also ported Android L to the Nexus 4 and HTC One M7. The latest version of Android is currently still only available as a developer preview. You can check it out on the official website and test it on Nexus 5 as well as the Nexus 7 (2013).

The same warning applies to the Android L as well so install it on your device only if you know what you’re doing and keep in mind there is a small chance that by doing so you will damage your device.
