The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active was announced earlier this year as an AT&T exclusive, but now Sprint also has its own version of the popular flagship. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport is very similar to the smartphone offered by its rival carrier although there are a few differences here and there. The device comes with a rugged back cover that makes it easier to hold and reduces the chances of it slipping out of your hand. Slight alterations were also made on the front side and you’ll notice that the three physical keys have been modified in order to make the handset easier to operate.
Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport comes in Electric Blue and Cherry Red colors, and features the same IP67 water and dust resistant certification we all know and love on the regular Galaxy S5. The Sport includes some very useful fitness and sports apps such as Activity Zone, S Health, and Sprint Fit Live. Additionally, the smartphone also grants buyers a six-month free subscription to Spotify and twelve months of free MapMyFitness MVP. This is a service that gives access to premium content like audio coaching, training plans, live tracking, and more.
As you might have already figured out, this particular version of Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is aimed at people with an active lifestyle and an interest for sports and fitness. Sprint describes their latest addition as being similar to having “your new personal trailer.” “Form meets function with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport and Sprint Fit Live, a rugged phone and a powerful app suite that help you track your active lifestyle from workouts to nutrition and beyond. The Sprint-exclusive Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport is built for your active life. Add to it our Sprint Fit Live fitness app suite and you’ve got the ultimate personal trailer that fits in your pocket.”
Spec-wise, the Galaxy S5 Sport comes equipped with a 5.1-inch 1080p resolution display and a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor running at 2.5 GHz. The device also feature 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage memory, 2800 mAh battery and Spark network support. Sprint will make the smartphone available for purchase starting with July 25th for $0 and 24 monthly payments of $27. Or if you prefer the no strings attached approach, you can also get it contract-free for the price of $650.
It’s rather pricey, but if you were looking for a pocket-sized personal trailer it’s worth checking out. For more details on the S5 Sport visit this page. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
