Google recently released the Android 4.4.3 update to its Nexus devices and also to a number of other smartphones. So far, the Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, HTC One M8 GPe, HTC One M7 GPe and several other Google Play edition devices received the newest update. Now, according to a new leak, it’s time for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and S4 to receive the latest Android 4.4.3 treatment.
New information has surfaced on Android Geeks, according to which, both the Exynos and Snapdragon variants of the Samsung Galaxy S5 will receive the update. We also know the two firmware numbers: G900FXXUOBNE6 for the SM-G900F and G900HXXUOBNE3 for the SM-G900H. The testing phase of the devices is complete, so we can expect it any time soon. The leak points to a June release but doesn’t clarify the exact date.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A model (GT-I9506) is also getting an update in July, according to the document. It’s currently still in final testing but it should be ready next month. The document contains no information about the S4 I9500 and I9505, but an Android 4.4.3 update for the two models is not excluded. Samsung is not planning a Phone Dialer change for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and S4, so the update will provide mostly bug fixing and performance boost. Early rumors suggested that other Samsung Galaxy branded devices will also get Android 4.4.3 and that the company might skip the Andorid 4.4.2 update altogether for these devices. In recent days however, we’ve seen Samsung roll out the 4.4.2 update to devices like the Galaxy Note 2, Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy S4.
The Android 4.4.3 might not remain the latest version of the OS for long as rumors continue to point to the arrival of the Nexus 8 tablet, a device that promises high-end characteristics and possibly a new Android version. As Google always releases new software alongside a new Nexus device, we might not have to wait for long for the new Android 4.5 or 5.0.
