Rooster Teeth’s annual Extra Life stream kicked off with a bang this year, proving to have one of the most eventful opening hours of their past Extra Life streams. This year, a Wheel of Destiny determines what happens when a $1337 donation is made to the Rooster Teeth team, along with the typical donation goals. As hour 7 started and the 3rd group hopped on, the stream calmed down a bit as tales of high school math class, Smite, and Destiny took to the main screen.
As is tradition, Rooster Teeth’s Extra Life stream is led by Jack Patillo, featuring other prominent members of Rooster Teeth as the stream goes on. This year, their donations are going to what are essentially crash test dummies that the doctors at Dell Children’s Hospital can use to practice their medical skills on. Donations can be sent here.
Of course, right after the dance, Ryan had to read a rather graphic fanfic involving him, Jack, the bathroom, and a ball gag. You can probably imagine the rest, especially considering the fact that there were things in the fanfic that the stream team deemed to be too disturbing to be read aloud. By comparison, Lindsay Jones reading excerpts from 50 Shades of Grey was thought to be all in good taste, even if it was mostly to laugh at the poor quality of the book itself.
Almost halfway into the stream, the Rooster Teeth Extra Life team raised $222,254.87 and sold 12,200 posters. At $10 per poster, and assuming that all the money made from posters sales go directly to Extra Life, this means that the Rooster Teeth Extra Life stream raised a total of $344,257 in 11 hours.
