Rise of the Tomb Raider at Gamescom

Sneaking, sneaking, sneaking. Can you spot Lara?

A new gameplay trailer of Rise of the Tomb Raider was shown off at Gamescom, this time putting Lara Croft in a jungle environment. In it, it is revealed that you will be going up against a mysterious organization known as Trinity, who is far better armed than the band of shipwrecked band of Solarii in the Tomb Raider reboot. This time, stealth is a far more refined art, which makes sense seeing as how Lara used stealth to her advantage to some degree in her previous adventure.

Apparently Lara picked up some new tricks from alligators and crocodiles.

For example, you can start your attack on an outpost by swimming in close and drowning/snapping the neck of the unfortunate soldier who always has his back to bodies of water. Then, you can sneak through bushes to get into a better position. Pick up some cans or bottles along the way if you like so that you can throw them to distract some other guard, then pounce upon some other poor soldier a la Assassin’s Creed.

Some new things that Lara can do include skills that can help in both stealthy and combat situations. One such ability lets Lara fire two arrows at once at two different targets. Another lets you take the various cans and bottles that you can find and turn them into lethal weapons such as improvised grenades and Molotov cocktails. Of course, fire will be a more prominent feature this time around (most likely thanks to the better hardware available), especially with the new addition of flamethrower wielding enemies.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is expected to come out on November 13, 2015 for the Xbox One.
