Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment UK has unveiled both in a press release and on its official YouTube channel today the official trailer for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight. Titled “Gotham is Mine”, the new video shows that one of the game’s antagonist, Scarecrow, is rallying up the villains of Gotham City to overthrow it make and take it as their own. Among the group – referred to as the Rogues Gallery in the press release – includes Two-Face, The Penguin, the Riddler, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and the Arkham Knight (a character specifically created for the game).
In the two minute-long video, Poison Ivy’s voice is narrated over some in-game cutscenes. She explains that Scarecrow gathered the villainous crew with a promise of a plan that would result in taking down Batman himself, and Gotham City would be theirs to claim thereafter. “Over my dead body,” Batman asserted. “I believe that was the idea,” Poison Ivy retorted.
Following the dialogue between the two, the rest of the video features a monologue from Scarecrow himself, saying that the remaining criminals of Gotham City will be free to run amok, while the city’s authorities “will not be spared.” He even taunts Batman by saying that he has already won. Interviewed between Scarecrow’s voice over is some snippets of gameplay.
“And when the dawn comes, when Gotham lies in ruin and I turn my gaze to the world beyond, the legend of the Batman will be worth nothing at all,” Scarecrow threatens before the trailer finishes. The full trailer can be viewed below.
