It seems HTC won’t just be focusing on flagships this year, as rumor has it that the HTC One M8i might also make an appearance at the MWC 2015 in March. The Taiwanese company is preparing to launch the HTC One M9 at the show, confirming the name and the “One Life” logo in a recent leaked listing on their website. Besides working on a few Desire mid-rangers, HTC is also working on the One M8i, a mid-range smartphone which should be launched at the MWC in Barcelona.
Take this with a grain of salt, but rumors say those who are not in need of flagship devices but want a taste of them, could gravitate towards the HTC One M8i, with inferior specs but high quality build. HTC is known for creating excellent mid-range Desire phones, so having a One M8i mid-ranger would be quite interesting. Upleaks, our favorite leakster who has been surprisingly active in the past few weeks, has released information about the HTC One M8i mid-ranger, with a Snapdragon 615 CPU built-in.
Specs of the HTC One M8i include a better 13 MP camera on the rear, backed up by a 2 MP auxiliary depth-sensing camera, as well as a 5 MP shooter on the front of the device. Since the mid-ranger will be based on the One M8 flagship, it will come with the same 5 inch FHD display, 2 GB RAM, BoomSound speakers and a 3000 mAh battery unit on board. According to Upleaks, the design of the device will be almost identical to the One M8, while the specs will differ. What’s more is that the HTC One M8i will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop and the new Sense 7.0 UI, which would be a great plan on the part of HTC.
There is no confirmation about the device from HTC, but rumors say the One M8i should make an appearance at the Mobile World Congress in March. Take this info with a grain of salt, though, because even Upleaks can’t be considered a completely reliable source. Until the company releases an official statement about the HTC One M9 and One M8i, we will be skeptical about their specs and design.
