Top 5 Free Android Lollipop Games 2015

Although it’s rolling out much slower than the previous major update, Android Lollipop is now available on quite a few mobile devices ranging from Nexuses and Motos all the way up to the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5. One of the most interesting things about any new operating system is the apps and that’s what we’re going to talk about here. More specifically, the free games. Unfortunately there aren’t a whole lot of new releases specifically designed with Android Lollipop in mind, so we’ll be looking at some free games that are also compatible with older versions of Android. That said, it’s probably for the best to look at some free games that also run on KitKat or earlier as Android Lollipop is not exactly stable at the moment and you may decide to downgrade at some point. With that out of the way, let’s get this show on the road.

5. Candy Crush Saga

We’re kicking things off with an old favorite that has been around on Android for more than two years now. Whether you hate it or love it, Candy Crush Saga is still one of the most popular free games for mobile devices and you can be certain that a lot of Android Lollipop users are already playing it as we speak. This tile-matching free game is very easy to get into, but becomes quite difficult at higher levels and can offer plenty of hours of enjoyment for fans of the genre. Candy Crush Saga requires 48 MB of free space and works with Android 2.3 and later.

4. Crossy Road

A more recently released free mobile game, Crossy Road was only made available on the Google Play Store earlier this month. Ever wondered why did the chicken cross the road? Well wonder no more because this game will answer that question for you. Crossy Road is about a chicken (among other animals) that has to cross various roads, rivers, and train tracks and it’s your job to make sure that it gets on the other side safely. The game currently has a few crashing issues on Android Lollipop, but a fix for this will be implemented in a future update. Crossy Road requires 20 MB of free space and works with Android 2.3 and later.

3. Temple Run 2

Another oldie but goodie, Temple Run 2 is just as addictive on Android Lollipop as it was on all the previous versions. The title of this free game is pretty suggestive and tells you all you need to know about its objective. The game is all about running, jumping, sliding, and turning in order to avoid all incoming obstacles and the best part is that you can’t stop running. In short, Temple Run 2 is an action-packed game that has the potential to be both frustrating and very rewarding, if you can master it. Temple Run 2 requires 45 MB of free space and works with Android 2.3 and later.

2. Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans is a mobile strategy MMO that also features a single-player component. The main highlight however, is the Clan Wars feature in which multiple players engage in combat against another group of players, all for the glory of their clan. Other features include base building, resource gathering, and troop training. Well, if you’ve ever played any strategy games before then you already pretty much know what to expect here. You can play Clash of Clans on all Android devices ranging from 4.03 Ice Cream Sandwich and all the way up to Android Lollipop provided you have at least 50 MB of free storage.

1. Subway Surfers

Another endless running game, Subway Surfers is very similar to Temple Run 2 in many aspects. But just as its name suggest, you won’t be running through temple levels here as the action takes place in the subway. Also, instead of monkeys you’ll be chased by the subway inspector and his dog. Aside from that, you have the same main features in the form of obstacle dodging and coin collecting. What makes Subway Surfers stand out from the crowd is the graphical style which makes everything look very pretty and colorful in a cartoony kind of way. Subway Surfers requires 39 MB and works on everything ranging from Android 2.3 and up to Android Lollipop.

About Egon Kilin

I’m Load The Game’s co-founder and community manager, and whenever I’m not answering questions on social media platforms, I spend my time digging up the latest news and rumors and writing them up. That’s not to say I’m all work and no fun, not at all. If my spare time allows it, I like to engage in some good old fashioned online carnage. If it’s an MMO with swords and lots of PvP, I’m most likely in it. Oh, and if you’re looking to pick a fight in Tekken or Mortal Kombat, I’ll be more than happy to assist!
