Guild Wars 2 is celebrating the holidays with its Wintersday event. Starting today, players will be able to participate in a number of activities to help commemorate the holidays.
In the Wintersday event, players are given a number of things to do. On the game’s website, a few of the activities were detailed. Players will be able to enter Toymaker Tixx’s workshop, and save a children’s orphanage’s stolen ornaments. Those that retrieve the ornaments will be able to plant the beautiful Wintersday tree in their home instance. This tree will give gifts all year round, and the Star of Gratitude that comes on top provides additional rewards for those who have extra Empyreal Fragments. Players can jump snowflake to snowflake in a jumping puzzle, ring in the season in Bell Choir, and defend gift-bearing dolyaks in Toypocalypse, and more. There will also be WvW Winter Competitive Events, as well as PvP events. There are also other various events and achievements that players can participate in and earn during this time.
Set in the world of Tyria, Guild Wars 2 features a persistent world and a story that progresses in instanced environments. The game has been well received, with reviewers considering the game to be one of the best MMORPGs at the moment. Guild Wars 2 claims to be unique from other MMOs in that it features a storyline that is responsive to player actions, something common in single-player RPGs, and not multiplayer games of the genre. Gamers are able to create a character from five races and eight professions, which are separated into different armor classes: “scholars” with light armor, “adventurers” with medium armor, and “soldiers” with heavy armor. The game’s level cap has been set at 80.
Guild Wars 2 is now available for PC. Though the game does require a purchase, there is no subscription needed to play Guild Wars 2. The Wintersday event began today.
