The Sprint Galaxy S5 is now ready to switch to Android 5.0 Lollipop thanks to an anonymous developer who managed to create a test build of the latest Android OS prior to an official launch. The firmware was leaked by XDA, along with all the required information and download links. You have certainly caught a glimpse on some screenshots and videos of the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 running on Android 5.0, but these devices have yet to receive the latest official OS version. Fortunately, Android fans will now be able to play a little with an unofficial version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop, which will only be available on the Sprint Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P). It’s worth mentioning that this leaked firmware might be carrying a series of bugs and other performance issues, as it is still an unofficial build which has not been fully tested. Flashing to this version will be entirely up to you, and do not try to install it on other models than the Sprint Galaxy S5.
For now, there is no conclusive feedback on the reliability of this Android 5.0 test build, although XDA reports good functionality for some features that have been tested. The disclaimer goes like this: “This package is for the Sprint Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P) only. Your device, your responsibility – not ours. Do not flash this if you do not know what you are doing or have any doubts/concerns about doing something unofficial.
This is a test build so understand YMMV and any use of this is at your own risk without official support available.”
So, this is good news for those Sprint Galaxy S5 users who have been itching for the new Android 5.0 Lollipop. Click here to get all the information you need plus the download links.
