Nival announced Blitzkrieg 3

Developer Nival revealed that they are working on their next game: a new addition to their Blitzkrieg series, Blitzkrieg 3, which will be released early next year on PC and Mac. According to the developer, Blitzkrieg 3 paints a realistic picture of World War II, focusing only on the battles that happened in that period.

The RTS will put players in the shoes of several commanders of the era, experiencing an interactive story of the Second World War. The game features both a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode. There will be classic single player campaigns for each participant at the war: the USSR, the Axis and the Allies. According to Nival, Blitzkrieg 3’s multiplayer mode is asynchronous, which means that players can make their way through enemy defences without having to be online for several hours.

Nival has been making strategy games for 17 years and, according to CEO, Sergey Orlovskiy, they believe that today, the RTS genre has fallen by the wayside. He states that their upcoming “Blitzkrieg 3” game is going to reinvent the genre for modern gamers. The developers promise that more information on the next Blitzkrieg game will be released in the coming months. For those who want a sneak peak of what’s coming, there is stuff like gameplay footage, developer insight and screenshots on the Blitzkrieg website.

The first “Blitzkrieg” game came out in 2003, on PC. The game focused on battles from the Second World War. Just like in the other games of the series, players assume the roles of various commanders during battles from the war that took place in Europe and North Africa. The sequel, Blitzkrieg 2, came out in October 2005, on PC. It featured World War 2 once again, this time with locations from Russia and the Pacific in addition to those from the first game. In order to commemorate the announcement of Blitzkrieg 3, the developer offers the original games, along with their add-ons, on Steam, for the special price of $4.99.

About Crisan Mircea

I'm a journalism graduate and an occasional gamer. As a kid I used to own a NES clone called "Terminator 2", which was hugely popular in my country. I like old school games and adventure games but I occasionaly play RPG's and Shooters as well, though I wouldn't call myself an expert at these kinds of games. When I'm not writing or playing games I prefer reading detective or fantasy novels.
