Ubisoft will never “drop the ball” on Assassin’s Creed’s quality

I’m pretty sure anyone will agree with me when I say that the Assassin’s Creed brand represents Ubisoft’s biggest success yet. Ever since its amazing début back in 2007, the French publisher has released six main entries across two generations (not counting the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Rogue), in addition to 11 other spin-offs on mobiles and handhelds. Oh, and let’s not forget about the comic-books, novels, animations, short-films, and even the upcoming blockbuster starring Michael Fassbender. Many fans and critics alike have been calling the Assassin’s Creed franchise “the standout series on this generation of consoles [the PS3 and 360],” and for good reason, because the series has sold over 73 million (!) copies as of April 2014.

In one of Game Informer‘s latest interviews, Assassin’s Creed Unity’s creative director – Alex Amancio – has stated that Ubisoft has so much passion for this particular franchise that he can’t imagine the development studios ever “dropping the ball” on the games’ quality. “We’ve done this for a long time and we’ve gotten it down to a science,” Amancio said. “Maybe the first one it was like, ‘Oh, what do we do?’ But now, it’s just our daily business. We’ve been lucky, and I think it’s mostly because of the people who are behind the product. The Assassin’s Creed people, we’re a huge family, and we love this brand so much that I think it’s unimaginable for us to ever let this ball drop. We need to always make the best game that we can possibly make. And so far, that heart and that level of effort and professionalism, has always pulled us through.”

As mentioned above, the first Assassin’s Creed game was released way back in 2007. After no new game in 2008, the publisher decided to annualize the franchise. Now here we are in 2014, when Ubisoft is about to release two (!) Assassin’s Creed games – one for the past-generation of consoles (Assassin’s Creed Rouge) and one for the current-gen. and PC (Assassin’s Creed Unity). Both titles are are scheduled for a November 11th release in North America and November 13th in Europe.

If it’s an MMO with swords and lots of PvP, I’m most likely in it. Oh, and if you’re looking to pick a fight in Tekken or Mortal Kombat, I’ll be more than happy to assist!
