Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil Revelations 2 is in the works and will be released early 2015. After the announcement at Sony Entertainment of Japan’s press conference today, the developer issued a press release in which they confirmed the game.
Besides announcing the game, Capcom also released a teaser trailer for the new Resident Evil. The teaser doesn’t reveal too much. It shows a little girl with a teddy bear walk through a bunch of static people that seem to be at some sort of party. Then, the scenery changes and she is in the streets, surrounded by seemingly crazy people. The punchline at the end says “Evil is watching”. You can watch the teaser below and see what I’m talking about.
Apparently, in Resident Evil Revelations 2, players will not take control of the previous game’s protagonists, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. The game will star new protagonists and a new setting. Capcom states that they don’t have any more information on the game yet, but Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be shown at future gaming events in 2014. One of these events is Tokyo Game Show, where the developer will bring a playable demo.
What’s notable about Resident Evil Revelations 2 is that the game will not be released on 3DS, the platform that the first Revelations game was originally designed for. This is an interesting decision from Capcom, since the first game was very popular on Nintendo’s handheld. Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released in early 2015 for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Capcom didn’t release any news on Resident Evil 7 nor have stated whether they started working on it. However, they announced that they will release a reboot of 2002’s “Resident Evil” early 2015. The developer also ensures that graphical enhancements are being made on the reboot in order to bring more life to the characters and backgrounds of the game. These enhancements include 1080p support for next gen consoles. Bottom line, Capcom promises two Resident Evil games for the beginning of 2015.
