We reported earlier this month that Motorola sent out invites for an event where both the Moto X+1 smartphone and the Moto 360 smartwatch are expected to be launched. We haven’t heard much about the former since then, but we’ve definitely heard about the latter. Not only that, but we also found out a lot of details about the device’s specs, features, and even price thanks to Best Buy. The giant retailer recently leaked all this information on their website, although the listing was since removed. However, it was a little too late as someone managed to grab a screenshot before they pulled it and now the whole internet has seen it. But maybe the point of the leak was to get people even more hyped about the Moto 360, who knows?
In any case, since Best Buy has been kind enough to share all the details we might as well take a look. The retailer reveals that Motorola’s Moto 360 will feature an LCD screen measuring 1.5-inches with 320 x 290 pixel resolution and 205 ppi protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. A li-io battery pack powers the Texas Instruments processor and we should also find something along the lines of 512 RAM. According to the listing, the Moto 360 is waterproof up to 3.3 feet (aprox. 1 meter) for up to 30 minutes and can be synced with devices running on Android 4.3 or later via Bluetooth 4.0. The upcoming smartwatch will have a stainless-steel case, plastic case back, adjustable Horween leather band and metal buckle, and comes with features such as pedometer, heart-rate monitor, vibration alert, and voice activation.
Best Buy lists the price of $249.99 for the Android Wear device, but doesn’t say anything about an official launch, unless you count “coming soon” as a launch date that is. However, as mentioned at the start of this article, Motorola sent out invites for a media event, which is scheduled to take place on September 4th. We believe the device will be launched at this event because one of the icons on the invites shows a watch that’s very reminiscent of the Moto 360’s circular design. This is most likely a hint that we’re going to see the smartwatch at next month’s event.
Word on the street is that Motorola’s next flagship smartphone will also be announced on September 4th. The device is said to go by the name of Moto X+1 and will be similar in design to its predecessor, but an upgrade in terms of display size and overall specs.
