Yooka-Laylee is a game that many gamers have been looking forward to for a long time. Ever since its massively successful Kickstarter back in 2015. Initially intended for a 2016 release, the game was delayed to an unspecified time in 2017. Despite this, Yooka-Laylee is not receiving the massive number of delays as Mighty No. 9. In fact, it finally has a release date announced. On April 11th, 2017, it will be released for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.

Pre-ordering Yooka-Laylee unlocks a free sandbox mode, available at once, that allows players to experience the game mechanics first hand. What’s more, one of the worlds that the game takes place in has been revealed. Capital Cashino, a casino themed world where players will have a new mechanic to interact with. Earning casino tokens through challenges, so that they can be turned in for the Pagies players gather throughout the game.
Initially Playtonic had planned a Wii U version of Yooka-Laylee as part of their Kickstarter. However, that no longer seems to be a reasonable goal with them. The studio director of Playtonic has commented that they have encountered technically issues that will prevent such a port. Playtonic is instead looking to release a version of Yooka-Laylee for the upcoming Nintendo Switch. They have announced that they are working closely with Nintendo to make this port a reality. Backers who were looking to redeem their copy of the game on the Wii U will be permitted to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch.
