One of the most memorable campaign levels in Halo: Combat Evolved is The Silent Cartographer. Taking place shortly after the raid on the Truth and Reconciliation, The Silent Cartographer puts you in the shoes of the Master Chief as he leads an assault on the Covenant held beach outside of the installation that holds the Cartographer. In Halo 5: Guardians, you can relive that moment once more in the new Warzone map unveiled at San Diego Comic Con dubbed Raid on Apex 7.
With the help of two master builders, the map was debuted as a massive MEGA Bloks set consisting of around 90,000 bricks and LED lights. Like the name suggests, there is a giant Forerunner spire in the middle of the set, not too different from the spires that exist in maps like Valhalla. And like the original campaign level, both Blue and Red Teams start off on beaches on opposite ends of a mountainous island.
Assuming that the MEGA Bloks set is a direct copy of the map, both teams have to make their way inward to the spire through the various cave or jungle approaches. If either team captures the spire, then they essentially have a secondary base to launch attacks from. Of course, the other team can mount a counterattack through their own cave and jungle approaches, so don’t stare too long at what is likely to be one of the largest Forerunner spires in the series.
Like all other Warzone maps though, the Covenant will make an appearance. As the original inhabitants of the spire, they will defend it to the death from your attempts to take it from them. Once one of the teams inevitably takes command of the installation though, they will launch their own counterattack. It is implied that the Forerunners will make an appearance on the map as well, which may prove true given the new mode’s emphasis on being an all out brawl between every major faction in the Halo universe.
You can see a quick video showing how the set was assembled here and how it might look like once it is completed.
