Dishonored was a sleeper hit back in 2012, giving us fantastic stealth gameplay, unique mechanics, and a pretty compelling narrative in what became a fan favorite from Bethesda. Bethesda has kept their mouth shut about any sort of “Dishonored 2”, and for all intents and purposes they intended to keep it that way – until somebody slipped up at the E3 press conference rehearsal.
In what was clearly meant to be just a sound-check by the folks setting up for tomorrow’s E3 conference, the two speakers just didn’t notice that they were live as they practiced the all-important Dishonored 2 announcement. In the audio grab (Which you can find here, courtesy of the folks at Kotaku) we see a discussion between Harvey Smith, the co-director of Dishonored (And presumably Dishonored 2), and Raphael Colantonio, president of Arkane (Dishonored’s developers, and most likely developers of Dishonored 2). Unless these two have coincidentally decided to work with Bethesda on something totally different from Dishonored 2, it’s almost certain that we’ll be seeing Dishonored 2 at tomorrow’s press conference.
In the audio grab, we see Colantonio reciting some lines, and Smith interrupting him. As Colantonio is given some instructions about speaking slower so the interruption feels more natural, somebody informs them that their microphones were live, and the feed cuts off. Unless this is all an incredibly elaborate way to hype us for Dishonored 2, this seems to be a mistake on the part of the folks at Bethesda, hinting strongly at the announcement of Dishonored 2 coming out tomorrow.
Dishonored 2 isn’t explicitly mentioned here, but we have all the reason in the world to make that assumption. The fact that it’s Colantonio and Smith – two people who would be at a Bethesda conference for no other reason than Dishonored 2, as far as we know – along with the uncharacteristic shout-out to Dishonored on Pete Hines’ (Bethesda Employee) Twitter account a few hours ago, all signs point to Dishonored.
Bethesda’s press conference is tomorrow, June 14th. We know that we’ll be in for a huge show, even aside from the recent knowledge that Dishonored 2 is coming. We know, obviously, that Fallout 4 is going to be there – and let’s not forget about the DOOM reboot that’s going to have an info bomb coming up. Get excited, people – E3 is off to a huge start, especially with Dishonored 2 coming!
