Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade Hosts Cosplay Competition

The team behind the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade MMO, Behaviour Interactive, has announced today a Warhammer 40,000-themed cosplay competition on the game’s official website. Winners of this contest can earn up to hundreds of dollars-worth of in-game content, and all participants will need to do is choose one of the game’s factions and cosplay a scene from Arkhona, the war-torn planet where Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade is set. The competition itself last from today (Monday, February 16th) through to the end of next month on Monday, March 30th at 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time.

Submissions can either be individual or with a group, and contenders are allowed to dress up as Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks, Eldar and Tyranids. Both original set pieces and photoshopped backgrounds are encouraged in this competition, but competitors will be primarily judged on their costumes more so than anything else. Specifically, fans will be judged 80 percent on their actual cosplay, a further 10 percent for a scene that relates to Arkhona, and another 10 percent for overall creativity of the submission.

Once put together, submissions can be uploaded via the Enter Now link featured on the contest’s announcement page. In addition to a striking costume, fans must also include a description that explains their cosplay and the scene they’re meant to be portraying. Accepted image formats for submission are .jpg, .png and .pdf. However, no image should be larger than 2MB. Participants should also note that the length of judging time will depend on how many submissions are put forward to Behaviour Interactive. Winners of the competition will be contacted via their registered email in conjunction to being announced on the contest’s webpage.

There are three tiers of rewards for the top three winners. The details of each have been listed below. Further information can be found via the official Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade website.

  • First Place:
    • 2 Xenos Packs ($900 value)
    • 2 Razer Tactical backpacks ($359.98 value)
    • 2 Arkhona Planet 18×24” canvas art
    • 2 Sets of Eternal Crusade lapel pins (x4 factions)
  • Second Place:
    • 2 Dawn of the Imperium Packs ($500 value)
    • 2 Arkhona Planet 18×24” canvas art
    • 2 Sets of Eternal Crusade lapel pins (x4 factions)
  • Third Place:
    • 2 Captain Packs ($240 value)
    • 2 Arkhona Planet 12×16” canvas art
    • 2 Sets of Eternal Crusade lapel pins (x4 factions)

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade will be a free-to-play MMO, but to gain access to all of the game’s remaining playable factions players must first pay for them. The Ork faction is the free one that players are given, but Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines and Eldar will have to be bought first before they can be played. Each of these factions can either be bought altogether or individually via microtransactions. The aforementioned Tyranids faction is only featured as NPCs. The game itself is slated to release on PC, Mac and SteamOS in “late 2015.” Plans for releases on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are also being considered.
