Verizon One M8 owners! Be patient, again.

Verizon One M8 getting Lollipop update early in March

Verizon One M8 owners have been pretty vocal about the carrier’s inability to send out Android 5.0 Lollipop to their smartphones in good time. There’s good news for these customers, as we have confirmation that the Verizon One M8 should be getting the update in the first week of March, which is still rather late to the game as many One M8 users around the U.S. and the world already have the update installed on their metal-clad flagships.

Mo Versi, our trusted source for HTC Android Lollipop updates, has confirmed on Twitter that the company is expecting Verizon to approve the update build in the first week of March, which means Verizon One M8 units should be getting their updates shortly after. Opinions about the delay are split, some saying HTC is at fault, while most One M8 owners say that Verizon and AT&T are the worst carriers when it comes to rolling out incremental updates to their customers.

The Verizon and AT&T One M8 units will be among the last ones to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, as unlocked, T-Mobile, Sprint and GPe units already benefit from the sweet treatment. People are still speculating about the One M7, but the update should arrive on that device soon enough, too. In Europe, many One M7 owners have already reported receiving the Lollipop update on their phones, and most say it’s working great.

Some One M8 users, as well as general Android users who have installed Android 5.0 Lollipop are a bit annoyed by the new notification system. The system includes notifications that are actionable right on the lock screen of the phone. Some users say that it is an affront to privacy, although not an intended one. Fact of the matter is that when your phone is one the table, and you receive a notification, most of the people sitting around you will most likely be able to see that notification. That poses the question: what if my girlfriend just proposed a kinky night out in the Red Light District for next week and my One M8 just lit up with the notification containing the message, which has been seen by my boss who is having lunch right next to me, checking out the sweet metal finish of the One M8 and talking about buying one. What’s he/she going to think about that? It’s a bit controversial, but you get the point.

Anyway, Verizon One M8 owners should keep their patience up for just a little longer. Your smartphone will most likely get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update by Women’s day on March 8th, but don’t take our word for that. If Verizon approves the build in the first week of March, we might be looking at another week until all customers actually get the OTA update notification on their phones. That might be good or bad: Verizon might get their hands on Sense 7.0, but that’s unlikely. If not, Sense 6.0 is the most we’ll be getting out of Verizon for now.

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
