Nintendo has released a new trailer for the upcoming game Code Name S.T.E.A.M with no comment beyond what is contained in the video. It’s probably best to enjoy the trailer without thinking to hard about it. The video shows the agents being tasked with fighting aliens at the order of Abraham Lincoln, The Great Emancipator, himself. The president then takes down an alien monster in his own mecha giant robot. So, basically, Code Name S.T.E.A.M is giving us another boss version of the sixteenth president of the United States, who has already hunted vampires in the past.
In addition to the featured appearance of the President of the United States, a glimpse into the feel, look, and actual playing style of Code Name S.T.E.A.M is given. From the description alone, you can see that the tongue in cheek style is extremely prevalent and extremely enjoyable through the trailer. The trailer also gives a look at some of the gameplay mechanics. Players can shoot many different types of guns, send animal-shaped explosive robots towards hostiles, and use other weapons as well. The cut-scenes are comicbook-like in style with dialogue boxes in addition to the spoken voices.
Code Name S.T.E.A.M is a 3DS exclusive turn-based strategy game that also features elements of a third person shooter. The game features a team of characters facing off against an opposite team of evil aliens in an alternate, steampunk history setting (explaining the presence of Abraham Lincoln). The game has been developed by Intelligent Systems, which is also known for the Fire Emblem series, and will be released in North America on March 13 and elsewhere later in May. The game is also compatible with the Super Smash Bros line of amiibo figures. So, in addition to the characters in-game. players could control Marth, Ike, Lucina, and other figures if they had the respective toy.
