Home Focus Interactive revealed in a press release today a new trailer for Space Hulk: Deathwing, which shows off what weapons may feature in the game as well as environments. However, a release date has still to be revealed.
The press release delivers the CGI trailer as something that introduces the first glimpses of the environments that’ll feature in Space Hulk: Deathwing. While dark and dank environments are showcased, the video itself is too action packed and fast-paced to really show said environments off. Instead, it particularly slows down and focuses on the various weapons featured in the trailer, implying that they will be included in the final product. The armaments include familiar weapons of war affiliated with the Warhammer 40,000 universe, such as the Power Sword, the Storm Bolter, the Plasma Cannon, the Heavy Flamer, the Assault Cannon and a few more. Curiously, the trailer also features a new kind of Plasma Cannon-like weaponry, which seemingly looks likes like particle gun. Particle weapons are typically associated with the Necrons (an extremely ancient race of mechanical warriors), and it would be the Space Marines to adopt alien weaponry. To be sure, this author has reached out to Space Hulk: Deathwing affiliates via Twitter for clarification.
The press release also claims that “each and every one of the game’s elements have been carefully crafted” by E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy developer Streum On Studio. It’s also claimed that Space Hulk: Space Marine will boast “flawless regard for detail and respect for the Space Hulk license.” The trailer itself has been embedded below, and further information on the title can be found Space Hulk: Deathwing forums.
In Space Hulk: Deathwing, players will experience the claustrophobic corridors of a Space Hulk, a drifting amalgamation of asteroids, spaceships and debri. Donning the role of a Librarian, players will lead a squad of Deathwing Terminators of the Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter and must the destructive psychic powers of the Warp. Furthermore, performance in battle will also earn Fervor Points, which can be spent on four different skill trees that will allow players to improve their abilities, to unlock new powers and to access powerful weapons.
Space Hulk: Deathwing is a first-person shooter slated to launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, although it’s currently unknown when exactly the game will release. Streum On Studio’s take on the Space Hulk board game will be powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4, and will be published and co-produced by Home Focus Interactive and Cyanide Studio respectively.
