The Motorola Moto E was one of the more popular budget-phones of the past few years and fans of the brand have been hoping to see a successor to the model in 2014. The year passed and we didn’t hear anything about the second generation Motorola Moto E, but it seems the time has come for Motorola to introduce their new budget smartphone. The second generation Motorola Moto E showed up in product listings on Best Buy, an e-commerce retailer online and the listing is fueling speculations about what Motorola is planning to unveil at the Mobile World Congress in March.
The MWC 2015 is scheduled to take place between March 2 and 5 in Barcelona, Spain and Motorola will be exhibiting at the show. Until know, we didn’t have almost any idea about what the company would be launching at the show, but it seems the Motorola Moto E is one of our best bets right now. The listing on Best Buy infers that the company behind the Nexus 6 and the Motorola Droid Turbo are readying the Motorola Moto E for a March launch date.
While you never know if these listings are actually proof of a device and the Motorola Moto E is no exception from that rule, we do think it is very likely for the company to launch a new budget phone this Spring, as considerable time has passed since the first generation Motorola Moto E was launched in May 2014. The listing reveals some alleged Motorola Moto E specifications: a 4.5 inch display with a 540*960 resolution so we’re definitely expecting a low-end smartphone designed for entry-level customers. Besides the display, the Best Buy listing points out that a quad core 1.2 GHz chipset will be running the show, and we’re guessing it’s the Snapdragon 400 CPU. The CPU will be backed up by 1 GB RAM and the handset will come with 8 GB expandable internal storage, a 5 MP rear camera, Android 5.0 Lollipop and 4G LTE.
Best Buy actually revealed the price for the second generation Motorola Moto E, within Sprint. According to the listing, if you choose Sprint’s pre-paid system, the Motorola Moto E price will be $99, with free shipping. We are pegging the MWC as the launch date and location for the second generation Motorola Moto E, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the company quietly launched it earlier than that (before the end of the month). Would you be interested in the a second generation Motorola Moto E or are you more excited about flagship phones right now? The listing was spotted by STJS, who provided the link to it. We can’t seem to find the listing without the link, so take this with a grain of salt.
