Galaxy S6 Edge features reveal record-breaking flagship

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is said to be the highlight of Samsung’s MWC show this March. Alongside the main flagship, the Galaxy S6, the Edge variant is said to be the company’s competitor to the Galaxy Note 4 and the new unconventional flagship of the year 2015. The Samsung Galaxy S6 has made an appearance on Antutu Benchmarks and its score is stirring up the pot pretty nicely.

Samsung promised that the Galaxy S6 and no doubt, the Galaxy S6 Edge will be built from scratch, as they have been given the “Project Zero” code-name. Even if the company is secretive about their new releases, it seems the benchmarks have revealed that the South Korean smartphone giant is ready to launch something mind-blowing. When it passed through Antutu Benchmarks, the Galaxy S6 Edge left a trace of high-end specs and record-breaking scores for performance.

A new model was spotted on Antutu, namel the SM-G925W8, and all speculation points towards the fact that this is indeed the model number for the upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge, to be launched at the MWC 2015. First off, the benchmarks reveal that the Galaxy S6 Edge specs include an octa core Exynos 7420 chipset, built with 14 nm technology, which translates to a next-generation chipset that should perform even better than the Snapdragon 810. We also get a glimpse of the ARM Mali-T760 GPU. The CPU and GPU are backed up by 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage.

The benchmarks reveal that the Galaxy S6 Edge display will measure 5.1 inches and t will come with a QHD resolution of 1440*2560. We did expect a larger display, but QHD sounds about right at this time. The camera showed up as being a 20 MP sensor on the rear and a 5 MP sensor on the front, confirming previous rumors about the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. If that’s interesting to you, the score this handset got in the benchmarks will tickle your smartphone-sense even more.

The Galaxy S6 Edge got the highest score on Antutu, namely 60.978, which points towards exemplary performance from the new Exynos chipset, way better than what we’ve seen on other chipset models from Samsung or Qualcomm, for that matter. Sources say that the benchmark reveals that the chipset is optimized for 3D object visualization, which acts as an explanation for the record-breaking Antutu benchmark score of the Galaxy S6 Edge. The Antutu benchmark listing for the Galaxy S6 Edge was spotted by tech website MyDrivers first.
