2K Games is bringing Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to Playstation 4 and Xbox One with the Borderlands Handsome Collection. Releasing on March 24th in North America and a few days later on March 27th internationally, the collection is the definitive way to experience the complete story of Handsome Jack for the suggested retail price of $59.99.
The Handsome Collection will allow players to transfer their save data over from their Playstation 3, Playstation Vita or Xbox 360 consoles to a console “within the same family” using cross-save functionality. This will include all leveled up character data as well as the player’s “Badass Rank” so players can jump right in with the characters they spent hours building.
2K games has also announced that The Handsome Jack Collection will include all of the available downloadable content to date (up to March 24th 2015) which includes campaign add-ons, level cap increases, and a multitude of character customization packs, so if you missed out or decided to wait, then now is the time to get everything. The Handsome Jack collection will also introduce a new local 4-player split screen multiplayer addition to the world of Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel that players can enjoy with 3 other friends on one television. Borderlands franchise director Matt Armstrong announced that during split-screen gameplay, The Handsome Jack Collection will run at 1080p and a steady 30 frames per second and the single-player campaign will run at 1080p and somewhere between 50-60 frames per second.
The Handsome Collection will also be receiving an extremely limited collector’s edition, the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition which will see a very limited run of only 5,000 copies worldwide. For $399, this extremely rare collector’s edition will contain a remote-controlled Claptrap steward robot that can be controlled with an iPhone or Android app, will have iconic voice samples from Claptrap, and will have a working camera in his “eye” streamed directly to your phone. There are also 12 exclusive Vault Hunter lithographs and a collectable steel case but did you see that robot?
But what about the original Borderlands? At this time 2K Games and Gearbox Software are only releasing the Handsome Jack Collection as Content Editor of Gearbox Andrew Goldfarb responded to a concerned Playstation user: “For now we’re just focusing on Handsome Jack’s story, which is only in B2 and TPS :)”. That’s not saying a remastered edition of the first game won’t be released eventually, but let’s just keep our fingers crossed until then.
