The Galaxy S6 Edge is real, but might not come with Snapdragon 810

Samsung promised some novelties to show up soon enough as flagships for 2015 and most people out there already know they’re talking about the Galaxy S6. What you might not know is that the South Korean company is actually planning a dual launch, if all is right, involving the aforementioned flagships as well as an edge-variant reminiscent of the Galaxy Note Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge. In spite of Samsung keeping silent about the whole affair, a flow of leaks is inevitable in times of hyped, and our newest finding provides some level of proof as to the existence of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Rumors has it that Samsung will be planting Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 810 CPU into the flagships, but recent information about overheating issues might influence the timeline. We might be seeing an Exynos CPU replacing the Qualcomm offering, with only a limited number of devices released later using the Snapdragon 810 CPU found on the LG G Flex 2 or Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. Nonetheless, proof has come to light about both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in the form of user agent profiles found on Samsung Mobile. These user agent profiles aren’t definite proof that we will be seeing the Galaxy S6 at MWC 2015, but they can be considered reliable sources as to the existence of the handsets.

The Galaxy S6 Edge user agent profile confirms some of the rumored specs, including display size and basic features. In the leak, we can see that the resolution on the edge-variant of the upcoming Samsung flagship will be the same as on the Galaxy S6, namely 2560*1400. That means we’re looking forward to yet another power-consuming QHD display, which some users say is currently unwarranted since there are few applications and functions that really take advantage of the high resolution.

Besides display resolution, the user agent profile lists basic properties of the Galaxy S6 Edge, but we can’t make out a resolution or mention of an edge display. What we do know is that the handset has model number SM-G925A and runs on an ARM11 CPU. Android 5.0 Lollipop is a must for the innovative device, and we are expecting for a surprise when it comes to TouchWiz as rumors say we will be getting an entirely revamped UI or Iconic UX instead. The estimated release date for the Galaxy S6 Edge as well as the edge-less counterpart from Samsung is MWC 2015 so we’re looking forward to hearing more then.
