The Halo 5 multiplayer beta will be wrapping up in just a matter of days and the folks over at 343 Industries have said that another testing phase is not being planned at the moment. That means that fans of the series who are eagerly awaiting to play the latest installment will have to wait a while longer until they will be able to do so. Those who managed to get into the beta have already experienced a little bit of what Halo 5 has to offer, but what about the others? Well, 343 still haven’t announced a specific release date for the game yet, but it is believed that it’s not going to come out until the third or fourth quarter of the year.
Back at E3 2013, the company revealed that Halo 5 was indeed in development, but the subtitle “Guardians” and a release window of “2015” were only announced several months later. Seeing as how development seems to be progressing rather slowly and 343 will likely need some more time to balance the multiplayer based on the player feedback received during the beta, it will probably take some more months before any other major details are revealed. E3 has traditionally been the place where Microsoft makes all the most important gaming-related announcements, especially when it comes to the Halo series. Important news about Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 came during E3 in the past and we expect that this will also be the case with Halo 5: Guardians.
A Pax East announcement is also possible, but seems less likely seeing as Microsoft doesn’t usually make any important reveals at this event, although they might offer fans who visit their booth a chance to play the Halo 5 multiplayer. As for the game itself, there are surprisingly few details regarding the plot for now. The story will be centered on Agent Locke as he’s trying to find Master Chief who mysteriously disappeared. There has been quite a heated debate regarding the main protagonist of the game late last year. It would appear that although Agent Locke will play a very important role in the events, the main protagonist of Halo 5 is still Master Chief. We’ll just have to wait and see what exactly is 343 cooking up here in terms of story. As mentioned, the release date for Halo 5: Guardians is likely to be announced only at E3 2015, which takes place during June 16-18. That said, don’t mark your calendars just yet as this is pure speculation for now.
