Evolve is an upcoming shooter with asymmetrical multiplayer. The game will be holding an open beta for the Xbox One version. At the same time, though, it seems that there will be some PlayStation 4 testing as well.
Starting January 17th, Evolve will be holding a small technical test on the PlayStation 4. Players can expect faster matchmaking, improved balance, and more when compared to the game’s Big Alpha. Turtle Rock Studios had this to say on their website: “Starting January 17, we’ll be holding a smaller closed technical test on PS4. Were you invited to the big Alpha? If so, check your email, and you can participate in the closed technical test, which is limited in scope and will not include Evacuation or have Hunter and Monster unlocks carry over to Evolve’s launch. You will need a PlayStation Plus membership to play.” Turtle Rock added that there will be no in-game badges, skins or medals for anyone that participates in the tests. They also encourage players to record anything they want from the game, and to share it with the studio.
Featuring asymmetrical multiplayer, Evolve pits four hunters against an ever growing monster. The game will feature four different classes of humans who will hunt the monster. The classes are: Assault, Trapper, Medic, and Support. Assault hunters will be the main damage-dealers of the team, Trappers will track and trap the monster, Medics will keep the team alive, and Support hunters will aid their allies. Players are also able to control four different monsters: Goliath, Kraken, Wraith, and Behemoth. The Goliath is a highly durable melee monster with versatile abilities. The Kraken is a long-ranged monster that can fly, and uses electricity as its means of attack. The Wraith is a stealth based melee monster with deceiving attacks. The Behemoth is the monster that will be given to those that preorder Evolve. Not much is known about the monster, other than the fact that it is bigger than Goliath.
Evolve will be coming on February 10th. The game will launch on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
