Persona 5 is the long-awaited entry to the Shin Megami Tensei spin-off series. While details on the game have been slim, we may be getting some insight very soon.
At this year’s Jump Festa, Persona 5 seemed to be MIA. However, news for the title might not take too long to come out. According to the game’s producer, Katsura Hashino, there might be a reveal for the game soon. Hashino had this to say: “After the New Year, we’d like to reveal content with proper timing.” Hashino did not give any hint at what the “proper timing” is, though there is the possibility that news for Persona 5 may come at the upcoming “Persona Super Live 2015” concert in February. Hints that there may be some kind of reveal from Persona 5 comes from the concert’s main website. The 5’s in the concert’s date can be seen shaking. In the background image, we see what seems to be the back of the protagonist from Persona 5. Also, the entire website is colored red, which is the game’s theme color.
Confirmation for Persona 5 was made in 2012 in the magazine Famitsu. According to Hashino, the central theme of the game is freedom. In the game’s announcement trailer, there are chairs with chains on them, and the words “You are slave. Want emancipation?” This represented the main characters being chained down by the rules of the modern world. Where Persona 3 was represented by the color blue, and Persona 4 the color yellow, Persona 5’s theme color will be red. Like previous titles, Persona 5 will take place in a high school. The game was first officially announced in 2013 along with a few other Persona titles, including Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. The game was originally set for a Winter 2014 release. During a pre-TGS press conference, however, it was announced that Persona 5 would land in 2015 for not only the PlayStation 3, but the PlayStation 4 as well.
Persona 5 will release sometime in 2015. The game will be available on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. You can see the trailer here.
