Guild Wars 2 is a hit fantasy MMORPG. Those that find themselves pretty decent at the game can participate in a PvP tournament at PAX East next year.
At the upcoming PAX East 2015, the Guild Wars 2 World Tournament Series Championship will be held. The winners of the tournaments will take home a piece of a $50,000 prize pool. The tournament will be held on March 7th, 2015, at the convention in Boston. Players from several countries can face off against each other, although teams will have to compete to win in earlier qualifiers to participate in the tournament. You have to be at least 18, and have to be from the US, Canada, Mexico, or Europe to participate. A nice little perk for those that make it to the championship is that ArenaNet will pay for the team’s airfare, hotel, and a per diem.
Developed by ArenaNet and published by NCsoft, Guild Wars 2 is set in the fantasy world of Tyria. The game follows the re-emergence of Destiny’s Edge, a guild dedicated to fighting the Elder Dragons, a Lovecraftian species that has seized control of Tyria since the time of the original Guild Wars. The Elder Dragons have woken and are now causing mass destruction across Tyria, and are corrupting its inhabitants. The advancement in time from the original Guild Wars is reflected in the changes in culture, including armor, clothing, in-game technology, and a unified common language.
In Guild Wars 2, players can create a character from 5 races and eight professions. The races are: the humans, charr, asura, and the sylvari. The race and profession of the player determine the skills that they can access. The game’s level cap is 80, much higher than the original game’s level cap of 20. PvE features a level scaling system that lowers the players level and stats to reflect the levels of enemies, maintaining a global level of difficulty.
Guild Wars 2 is available for PC. The game is celebrating its Wintersday celebration at the moment.
