Google might be releasing Android Lollipop 5.1 as early as February 2015 according to sources close to the matter. The search giant recently launched version 5.0.1 in an attempt to fix some of the bugs that have plagued Nexus devices ever since the initial version 5.0 came out. Now, it looks like the company is already hard at work on 5.1 and are including not only bug fixes in the upcoming update, but new features as well. This is according to two separate sources whose information seems to coincide perfectly, so we can only conclude that the information is indeed legit. Moreover, they have also provided a change log for Android Lollipop 5.1 which details everything included with the update.
You may have noticed in version 5.0 that the Silent Mode was missing, well not anymore. The next version will fix that and also fix the problems that lead to certain apps closing unexpectedly. Android Lollipop 5.1 also brings with it increased system stability, as well as improved battery and RAM management. In addition, users can expect fixes for issues related to wireless connections, notifications, Okay Google, sounds problems, and other fixes and improvements that have not been revealed yet. Finally, Android Lollipop 5.1 is also expected to features enhancements in the Material Design color palette. The next update will reportedly bring additional functionality as well, but further details regarding this particular aspect are still unknown at this time.
Like we mentioned above, word on the street is that Android Lollipop 5.1 will begin rolling out sometime in February 2015. As per usual, the update will most likely start rolling out for Nexus devices, followed by Motorola phones, flagship smartphones from other manufacturers, and then gradually come to all the others that will be eligible for the upgrade. Seeing as how some devices are skipping Android Lollipop 5.0 entirely and upgrading straight to 5.0.1, we might see at least some of them waiting until 5.1 pops up before upgrading further.
