We’ve picked up on the Samsung Galaxy E7 and Galaxy E5 last week, talking about how Samsung is planning yet another new line of mid-range smartphones. GFXBench has published the Galaxy E7 specs so we now have confirmation that the handset is actually in the works and Samsung is indeed planning a new line. After the Galaxy Alpha-inspired Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 saw the light of day, we didn’t expect Samsung to release an entirely new line so soon. While we don’t have a Galaxy E7 release date, we are fairly sure that the new line might show up either at CES 2015 or MWC 2015, alongside the Samsung Galaxy S6.
GFXBench published the Galaxy E7 specs and they are mostly in line with what our previous leaked story suggested. While the Galaxy E7 specs leaked don’t mention this, previous rumors say that the Galaxy E7 as well as the Galaxy E5 will be similar in design to the Galaxy Alpha and the subsequent Galaxy A line, so we are expecting at least a metal frame if not a metal unibody. Otherwise, Galaxy E7 specs include a 5.5 inch 720p display, a 64 bit Snapdragon 410 CPU backed by 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. We will supposedly be working with a 12 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera on the Galaxy E7. While SamMobile did say that the Galaxy E7 rear camera will feature 13 MP, the GFXBenchmark shows only 12 MP, but that’s still acceptable for a mid-range smartphone. According to SamMobile and previous rumors, the Galaxy E7 battery will measure 2950 mAH.
The Galaxy E7 and E5 release date is pegged for the second half of 2015, but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to see at least a teaser of what Samsung is planning to do with these at MWC or CES next year. Price-wise, we expect the Galaxy E7 to be quite pricey, especially if it includes a full metal unibody or a metal frame. The new Galaxy E7 and Galaxy E7 will be among the first new smartphones form Samsung that will be created with the company’s new philosophy of redesigning their lines. Even though Samsung said that they would cut back on the number of smartphones they would be releasing next year seeing as Galaxy sales in 2014 have plummeted, it seems the Galaxy E7 and Galaxy E5 will be among the new models we will see in stores.
