Shovel Knight has been released on a number of platforms since the game’s release. Now the title will be reaching out to more platforms in 2015.
In 2015, Shovel Knight will be coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita. On the PlayStation Blog, Yacht Club Games gave some of the details. They mention that the game looks beautiful on the PS Vita, and that the controls are great on the PS3 and PS4. New features include back touch implementation, Twitch TV integration, cross-save compatibilities, and more. The studio also made the announcement that the game will be getting a guess characters on the PlayStation version: Kratos from the God of War series. Yacht Club Games have not yet revealed why Kratos has come to the world of Shovel Knight, but have revealed what he will look like in 8-bit form.
An homage to classic titles such as Mega Man and Castlevania, Shovel Knight is an 8-bit adventure that follows the game’s hero as he sets out on an important journey. Shovel Knight sets out with two goals: to stop the evil Enchantress, and to save his lost love. In his way, however, is a team of villainous knights. Known as The Order of No Quarter, this team of villains have been dispatched by the Enchantress in an attempt to stop the game’s hero from accomplishing his goal. The eight members of The Order of No Quarter are: King Knight, Specter Knight, Treasure Knight, Mole Knight, Plague Knight, Propeller Knight, Polar Knight, and Tinker Knight. Shovel Knight wields a Shovel Blade, a multipurpose weapon that is good for defeating enemies and digging up treasures.
Shovel Knight is available for the Wii U, 3DS, and PC. The title will be available on the PlayStation Network in 2015. When the game was released, it received universal praise, and was considered a great throw back to an older generation of games.
