The original Banner Saga released earlier this year. The game released on Steam in January of this year. The game features turn-based combat inspired by other strategy titles, such as Final Fantasy Tactics. The player is able to build up and control a party of characters with different abilities. The setting of the game is a Viking-inspired fantasy setting, and the art work is based off of the 1959 Disney film Sleeping Beauty. The Banner Saga is comprised primarily of hand-drawn animation sequences, characters, and backgrounds. The game’s soundtrack was written by Austin Wintory, the same composer who worked on the Journey soundtrack. The ensemble that performed the music was the Dallas Wind Symphony. A turn-based multiplayer game, titled The Banner Saga: Factions, was released in early 2013. The game pitted teams of 6 combatants against each other, with 16 classes to choose from. The Banner Saga was well received, with many reviewers praising that game’s art and story. The game was also praised for its battle system.
The Banner Saga 2 is slated for a 2015 release. The original title, The Banner Saga, is available on Steam.
