Tekken 7 is on the way for Japanese arcades. To help tease the upcoming release, Bandai Namco has released a trailer showing off a new character to the series: Lucky Chloe.
While Sony was holding its first PlayStation Experience event this past weekend, Bandai Namco held its “20th Anniversary Tekken Fan Thanksgiving Event.” During the event, a new trailer (seen below) was released, showcasing a brand new character for Tekken 7: Lucky Chloe. Director and Chief Producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed that the character will be themed around cats. As such, Chloe comes decked out with cat earphones that have cat ears on them, a tail, and a pair of cat paws. It would not be surprising if the character becomes popular in Japan due to her cuteness.
Originally revealed at EVO 2014, Tekken 7 is the latest entry in the series, and will be releasing around the 20th anniversary of the series. Originally Tekken 7 was not supposed to have been revealed at EVO, but was shown due to the fact that existence of the title was leaked. The game will be the first in the series to make use of Unreal Engine 4. Gameplay will follow the 1-on-1 fighting system that its predecessors have used, along with some new mechanics. One such mechanic Power Crush, which lets the player continue their attack even while being hit by their opponent. The player will still receive the damage their opponent is dealing. The game’s plot will bring the Mishima clan saga to an end, and will feature Kazumi Mishima, paternal grandmother to Jin Kazama and late-wife to Heihachi Mishima. So far, three new characters have been revealed (including Lucky Chloe), with more being teased, including Kazumi.
Tekken 7 will release in Japanese arcades in early 2015. The game will also be coming to the PlayStation 4. It is unknown at this point if the title will be coming to any other consoles.
