Ultratron is a top-down shooter in the vein of the classic title Robotron 2084 by developer Puppygames. While the game has been on Steam, it will soon be making a transition over to consoles through the PlayStation systems.
According to the PlayStation Blog, Curve Digital will be bringing Ultratron over to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and the PS Vita. This is not first time that Curve Digital has worked with Puppygames; Curve Digital also brought Titan Attacks to the PlayStation systems earlier this year. Like how Titan Attacks was about expanding Space Invaders, Ultratron takes the classic experience Robotron, and gives it a modern touch. Ultratron adds two player co-op, and adaptive difficulty that manually adjusts the pace of the game based on the skill level of the players.
While not a sequel to Robotron 2084, Ultratron is heavily influenced by the title’s top-down twin-stick shooting. In Ultratron, the human race has been slain by evil robots. Gamers play as the one remaining battle droid, who must avenge the human race. Players blast their way through 40+ levels as they take on different types of enemies, including Chasers, Turrets, Spawners, Minelayers, and more. Players will also have to battle the four giant boss ‘bots of the Apocalypse: Ieiunitas, Bellum, Lues, and Letum. Gamers can boost their battlebot’s power with powerful weaponry, and destroy Spiderbots to gain special weapon abilities, field defense, and pet drones to assist in battle. Ultratron also has a 2 player co-op mode. In this mode, players share cash, upgrades, and shields, as well as drones and pets to add an extra tactical twist. Players can also revive each other should the need arise.
Ultratron will be joining puzzle game Nova-111 in Curve Digital’s 2015 PlayStation line-up. The developer also has at least two more unannounced games coming to the PS4 next year as well. Ultratron is already available on Steam.
