Destiny, Activision and Bungie’s online first-person shooter, will be receiving a new DLC pack called The Dark Below next week. Ahead of the release, Activision has released a launch trailer showing fans what to expect next week, and can be seen below.
The Dark Below will bring a wealth of new content, including a new story. After years of hiding amongst the Hive in the shadows, a new character names Eris brings forth a an ominous warning: The Hive seek to summon a god by the name of Crota, and destroy the Earth. The expansion will come with new weapons, armor, and gear, and will increase the light level cap to 32. Five additional bounty slots will also be added. A new co-operative strike called The Will of Crota will be added, as well as three new competitive multiplayer arenas. Also being added is a new six-player raid called Crota’s End. PlayStation users who purchase The Dark Below will gain access to an exclusive cooperative strike, and an exotic weapon.
Developed by Halo studio Bungie, Destiny had released in September. The game received decent reviews, with the title’s story receiving the most criticism. Regardless, Destiny sold incredibly well, becoming one of the largest debuts for a new franchise. The title has shipped more than $500 million to retail stores and first-parties worldwide. The game met some controversy during development when Bungie terminated its long-time composer and audio director Martin O’Donnell in April. Despite the concern that some fans had when the news was released, O’Donnell’s departure did not affect the soundtrack, as the music for the game was already complete.
Destiny’s The Dark Below will release on December 9th. The pack will cost $19.99 alone, or as a part of the Destiny Expansion Pass $34.99. The pass will include The Dark Below and another DLC expansion that will release next year.
