Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a week away from release on the Wii U. Ahead of the release, Nintendo showed off a few of the levels that players can expect when the game comes out.
Through Nintendo Minute, Nintendo put out a video showcasing some of the action players can expect in Captain Toad (video seen below). The video gives a good glimpse of how the game will play, and some of the things that players will discover as they play through Captain Toad. Much of what is shown will be familiar, especially to those that played Super Mario 3D World. The video shows that by having a save file of that game on their Wii U, players will be able to unlock bonus content in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
A spin-off of a mini game from the Wii U title Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is the first game to star a toad character. In the game, players control Toad, and sometimes Toadette, as they navigate through the level trying to reach the Gold Star at the end. Unlike most Mario games, however, Toad is not able to jump. Players are able to move the camera to get a better layout of the stage, and can reveal hidden gems. Toad is able to receive two hits before he dies, though he can collect mushrooms to restore his health. The game will make use of the Wii U GamePad’s different features, such as manipulating objects through the touch screen, or using the gyroscope to aim. Captain Toad will make use of amiibo figures, though how that will work is unknown at the moment.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker releases on the Wii U on December 5th. Europe will be able to pick up the game the month after on January 2nd.
