The Game Awards tickets will be available via a giveaway hosted by Microsoft’s Major Nelson in Las Vegas. The event will be held on December 4 at the Microsoft Store in the Fashion Show Mall on Las Vegas Boulevard. Tickets will be given away to the first 100 people in line, and front row tickets will be raffled off, along with games and Xbox One bundles. The line for The Game Awards tickets will from at 5pm and the meetup itself will begin at 7pm. Major Nelson will be there in person. If you don’t get a ticket they will be running games of Sunset Overdrive, Halo Master Chief Collection and Forza Horizon 2 as well for your enjoyment. You must be 18 to enter The Game Awards, most likely because of the showcasing of M rated games and its the standard for events like this.
I have been to the Microsoft Store in the Fashion Show Mall and it’s not exactly spacious so expect to be squashed by other participants if you go. It is a good opportunity to win free Game Awards tickets, and to meet Major Nelson. The Game Awards is a new awards show being produced and likely hosted by Geoff Keighley. Last year saw the annual VGAs rebranded as the VGX and was an overall abysmal affair with host Joel McHale obviously not wanting to be there and frequently insulting those watching. Also not helping the VGX was a live audience which caused the giving of awards to hold no applause but instead awkward silence. This year The Game Awards tickets are available to public attendees, costing $45. The Game Awards will be hosted at the Planet Hollywood Axis Theater on December 5. If you can’t attend the show will be streamed through most internet accessible devices. Nominees for Game of the Year are: Bayonetta 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor, Hearthstone and Dark Souls II. You can also vote for your most anticipated game and “trending gamer” on the site.
