Far Cry 4 for PC has just received a patch, it came out on Monday. You can read the full blog entry here on the official Far Cry blog. The issues of blank screens players would come across, such as the grey one which would come up at the end of Outpost Master Missions are supposed to get fixed with the Far Cry 4 Patch 4. Future patches are also planned for PC gamers to make their gameplay experience a smoother one. When compared to Ubisoft’s other flagship title this holiday season, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4 doesn’t nearly seem as bad. It’s been a nasty trend of late to release games that seem unfinished, with Driveclub also having some major issues post launch.
Far Cry 4 takes place in the fictional country of Kyrat where the player takes control of Ajay Ghale, who is returning to Kyrat from America to spread his mother’s ashes in her homeland. But he soon gets caught up in a civil war and teams up with the rebels to fight against Pagan Min, the evil self-proclaimed king of Kyrat, played by Troy Baker.
Far Cry 4 has received strong reviews from critics, but the overall consensus is that it is similar Far Cry 3 and doesn’t stray too far from a winning formula. With strong gameplay loops such as hunting, crafting and taking over enemy outposts, Far Cry 4 is never short on things to do. The Far Cry series as a whole has been pretty odd. Far Cry 2 was rather realistic and tough on the player and still to this day is one of the most interesting shooters out there. You even had malaria in that game. But with gameplay issues the game struggled to stand up and actually be classed as “fun.” Far Cry 3 and 4 are all about empowering the player and having fun with a million things to do. Also mostly, being a smooth experience.
