Hatoful Boyfriend, the visual novel/avian dating sim from Hato Moa, will soon be making its way over to the West. According to the PlayStation Blog, the title will be available for the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita.
Releasing in the second quarter of 2015, Hatoful Boyfriend is a visual novel that takes place at St. PigeoNation’s Institute. As the only human at this school for talented birds, you will wander the halls and find love at the world’s greatest pigeon high school. You will be able to talk to birds of every kind, from narcoleptic school instructors to pigeon biker gangs, and work your way to encounters with potential suitors. You can spend time with those that catch your attention, and pass on those that bore you.
Of course, not everything is school and romance at St. PigeoNation’s Institute. In Hatoful Boyfriend, you will uncover dark conspiracies, find unexpected twists, and come across hellish fiends trying to bring about the apocalypse. Thus, you will have to choose your dates wisely; you may find your true love, or you may end up being murdered in your bed. The game features a branching plot, with multiple endings.
Hatoful Boyfriend originally released for PC in 2011. Originally an April Fool’s joke by mangaka Hato Moa, the game gained quick fame through word of mouth. The game takes place in a dystopian future where birds have become the dominant species on Earth, and humans are the minority.
Hatoful Boyfriend is already available on Steam, with the PS4 and PS Vita versions being the first time that the title has reached over to consoles. No pricing has been given (though Hatoful Boyfriend goes for $10 on Steam), and while we do know the game will release on console in the second quarter (July 1-September 30), there has been no definitive release date as of yet.
