The Blackberry Passport smartphone is now available to purchase for only $500. Blackberry decided to jump on the Black Friday bandwagon and are offering their latest flagship $200 cheaper than usual during this time. That’s a 29 percent discount which will last until the end of the month. Coincidentally, only the black version of the square handset is being discounted, presumably in order to match Black Friday. Blackberry reminds us on the promotion page that the Blackberry Passport in not compatible with Verizon, Sprint, or US Cellular, so you will have to look for another deal if you want a phone that features support for those networks. Also, White and Red versions of the device are available as well, but only if you are willing to pay the full price. However, these models are currently not in stock and will only start shipping next month.
While colors and pricing varies, all Blackberry Passport models come with the same features and specifications. This is a rather unorthodox looking smartphone that comes equipped with a 4.5-inch square display with 1440 x 1440 pixel resolution and 453 PPI. Don’t let its strange appearance fool you though because the Blackberry Passport can go head-to-head with many other flagships when it comes to performance. The device sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz, with Adreno 330 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. We’re also looking at a 13 MP primary camera with optical imagine stabilization accompanied by a 2 MP front-facing shooter.
As for the storage, the Blackberry Passport offers 32 GB and comes with a microSD card slot that allows users to expand the memory by up to 128 GB. To top it all off, the handset also features a huge 3,440 mAh battery that will last well over a day before you’ll need to reach for the charger. The Blackberry Passport usually costs $700, which is pretty expensive but still fair for a flagship this good. This Black Friday deal however makes it even more appealing, so make sure you grab one until November 30th if you’re interested.
