The Game of Thrones universe just got a little bit bigger for viewers of the HBO saga with the news that there’s a new family to love and loathe in Telltale’s upcoming release. Details about the members of the House of Forrester, with whom fans of George R.R. Martin’s books are already acquainted, were revealed this week.
The House of Forrester is made up of thirteen people, all of whom figure prominently in the game’s story arc. Players will get to explore Westeros with five playable characters from the House of Forrester and their servants in the first episode entitled “Iron From Ice.” Need more Tyrion in your life? Gameplay will also include regular interactions with the characters you root for or just plain love to hate. You won’t need to worry about weird sounding characters ruining your Game of Thrones game experience either.
Cast members from the HBO hit will lend their vocal talents so that you’ll get to hear the dulcet tones of Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer), and Ramsay Snow (Iwan Rehon) as you make your way through “Iron From Ice.” Fans will be pleased that additional cast members will also reprise their roles in subsequent episodes of Telltale’s Game of Thrones.
It should come as no surprise to the Game of Thrones fanbase that due to the depth of the story and characters, the game will require six episodes to tell its tale. “Iron From Ice” writer Andrew Grant explains, “As we got into it, we realized the arc was well-suited to a six-episode arc, with the first episode doing a lot of heavy lifting in introducing who these playable characters are,” Grant said. “Let’s give you a chance to know them, and grapple a little bit with the initial dilemma.”
In keeping with the tradition of their previous releases like The Walking Dead and Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale says that decisions made by each of the five playable characters will have widespread ramifications for the rest of the Forrester family. While there has been no word given on the exact release date of the first installment in the Game of Thrones game, it is certain that the game will be available on PC, iOS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
With five times the decisions that can either make or break the House of Forrester, the high stakes in “Iron From Ice” are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat as you try your best to navigate the War of the Five Kings in the Game of Thrones video game.
