Square Enix recently held a small show focusing on Final Fantasy Type-0 HD with game director Hajime Tabata. During the presentation, Tabata gave some more details on the Final Fantasy XV demo that will be bundled with the upcoming Type-0. The demo will be called Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae. The word, “Duscae,” is not an actual word but one of the areas within the game. It is presumably the area you will be located in for the duration of the demo.
The demo is reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, as the main storyline content will only last one hour. Those who seek to explore and exploit everything the demo has to offer will find it lasting four hours or so. The demo will also be restricted, only being available for a limited time, which helps push Type-0 onto those curious to see how Final Fantasy XV will turn out.
Some of the Final Fantasy XV demo was actually shown at the recent Tokyo Game Show to attendees. The demo will feature an open world that allows traversal via foot or vehicle. Players can control the car or set one of their groups characters to auto-drive them to objectives. Chocobos are planned on being included if time allows for the development team to add them. There will be no boss fights in the demo, Tabata confirmed. The game also has a dynamic weather system, with rain causing puddles and uncovered clothes to become more and more drenched. Afterwards the sun will slowly begin to dry out the game world. There is also a day and night cycle, though the speed of progression was not detailed. The battle system is more action oriented instead of turn based. Players will directly control one party member, named Noctis, who fights alongside his friends.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 17, 2015. The game will actually be getting a trailer in movie theaters this holiday season.
