Ubisoft is still struggling with numerous performance issues in Unity’s gameplay and the developer has not yet found the ideal formula to overcome these shortcomings. Two patches have been deployed last week for the PC and PS4 versions, while the Xbox One version is also scheduled for some serious patching shortly. Recently, Digital Foundry tested Unity’s performance across both current-gen consoles and concluded that the game is still far from being properly optimized, as frame rate drops and lag are just a few of the main issues. Meanwhile, in their relentless efforts to develop new patches that will hopefully put to bed all of these ongoing problems, Ubisoft is blaming AMD for their shortcomings. A recent post on official forums by an Ubisoft PR rep holds AMD machines responsible for performance issues, claiming that systems fueled by AMD CPUs or GPUs may suffer from optimization issues which will reflect on the overall visual presentation of Assassin’s Creed Unity. Here reads:
“We are aware that the graphics performance of Assassin’s Creed Unity on PC may be adversely affected by certain AMD CPU and GPU configurations. This should not affect the vast majority of PC players, but rest assured that AMD and Ubisoft are continuing to work together closely to resolve the issue, and will provide more information as soon as it is available.”
The curios thing is that Nvidia GPUs are not even once mentioned in this post, although many problems have been reported by Nvidia users as well. There’s no secret that Ubisoft and Nvidia have teamed up for Assassin’s Creed Unity, as the Graphics Giant implemented some exclusive GameWorks features into the game and this might explain why they are receiving a preferential treatment in this mess. All we know is that Assassin’s Creed Unity needs a major patch for its serious frame rate issues and graphics bugs, and it needs it fast. A third patch is reportedly coming this week. We’ll keep you posted.
