Details about the upcoming flagship from Huawei, the Ascend P8 have leaked online. While only 6 months have passed since the Chinese OEM introduced its flagship for 2014, the Ascend P7, it seems the company is already working on its successor. The Ascend P8 has been leaked in a report coming in from China, saying that the new flagship should make an entrance at CES 2015, alongside Sony’s Xperia Z4 line.
The Huawei Ascend P8 is currently being tested at the company headquarters and rumors say that the new handset will be something innovative. The Ascend P8 design supposedly includes both metal and ceramics and keeps on par with the promises Huawei made regarding premium builds and high-quality materials. The Ascend P8 should have a metal frame and body with a ceramic back panel, which should make for an extremely stylish smartphone, in my opinion.
Besides having a premium design, the Ascend P8 will also have great specs to boast with. According to rumors, the Ascend P8 should come with a 5.2 inch display with a 1080*1920 resolution and 424 ppi pixel density. We could also see an exclusive appearance of the 16 nm FinFET octac core Kirin 930 CPU on the handset, but that’s a bit unlikely since the chipset isn’t ready for mass production yet. While these are rumors, we do expect to see at least 3 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, microSD card support, a powerful battery of at least 3800 mAH and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Huawei said that even though the Ascend P8 will make use of premium materials, it won’t affect the price of the handset, which would be admirable on the part of the company. Supposedly, we should be looking at a $500 price tag for the Ascend P8, which is the same as for the base model of the wonderful Ascend Mate 7. Considering the fact that we’ve seen lesser flagships go for double the price, we think if Huawei pulls this off, it will become one of the most appreciated smartphone manufacturers in the world.
