Microsoft seems very determined to get their newly acquired Lumia brand going, and after leaked details of a lower-end Microsoft branded Lumia emerged last week, this time around a new leak reveals a high-end Microsoft Lumia 940 that will allegedly be fitted with a PureView camera and QuadHD display. According to this unofficial report, Microsoft is working on a high-end smartphone with Quad HD 5-inch 1080p display and a premium Snapdragon 805 processor. The leak also points to a Gorilla Glass 4 protective screen sheet, 3 GB of RAM, and a very impressive 24MP camera. As the image below shows, the smartphone in question seems to be the Lumia 940.
The state of the art 24-megapixel camera to be fitted on the Microsoft Lumia 940 will allegedly feature 4K video recording capabilities at 60FPS, which to me seems very unlikely without an H.265 encoder on board as seen on the Snapdragon 810. The front camera features a 5MP unit with 1080p recording capabilities. Packing a 2.7Ghz Quad-Core Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM, the Lumia 940 will surely earn a spot among elite competition. The smartphone is relatively compact, sizing in 137 x 71 x 8.9 mm, and weighing 149 grams. Judging by these dimensions, Microsoft might be looking to introduce a similar type of chassis as seen in the current Nokia Lumia 930 flagship, as the 940’s width and height are identical to that of Nokia’s model, while the only difference lies in the phone’s thickness, which according to this leak shaves 1mm off compared to its Lumia 930 counterpart.
Seemingly, Microsoft Lumia 940 will feature a new edition of the PureView camera in a more compact and attractive design. With all of this in mind, taking this leak with a whole punch of salt makes the case here. Mentioning the Windows Phone 10 OS and the Gorilla Sheet which is not yet talked about Corning itself, makes this leak a little less credible, as both are still a long way from home. So, make of it what you want and please share your thoughts.
