Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections are reving their developing engines to make sure their upcoming open world racing prodigy, The Crew, blasts out the door of their studios in time. Developers have released a new customization trailer to showcase the different setups your cars will have in different racing environments. Whether bolted with a hefty supercharger for the streets, fitted with massive wheels and racing headlamps for off-road courses, or lowered and dressed with a solid body kit for the track, the cars in The Crew have it all. You’ll be able to tweak your “tranny,” modify your engine, throw on some custom rims, and other fancy mechanical upgrades.
High octane racing, shootings, chases, you name it; The Crew is not a game for the faint hearted. The game will feature an open and persistent world which allows the player to “floor it” all across the United States. Travelling from one coast to another will take about 90 minutes, while the single-player campaign amounts to 20 hours. Players will have to infiltrate criminal groups and get a better look of what’s hidden underneath the rocks. Mini-games called Skills will be available to join all throughout the game environment, and will be triggered every time players drive through them. You will receive challenges such as weaving through gates, or maintaining an accurate racing line for a certain period of time. The scores you will acquire will be automatically saved in similar Need for Speed Autolog fashion, as they will be seen by your friends, who will then try their best to top them.
Missions can be played alone, with your friends, or in online co-op matchmaking. A maximum number of eight players will be allowed in multiplayer races and other game types. The multiplayer will not stand separate from the single-player mode; players are allowed to form Crews to race together, or attempt to improve ghost records. The Crew will close this year’s racing title fest in promising fashion. We’ll see the game this December 2nd on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 version of The Crew is currently under development by Asobo Studio, the french developer who created Fuel, Kinect Rush, or Toy Story 3.
