TellTale Games announced that The Walking Dead will arrive on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this October, both in physical and digital format.
Each season will be sold separately. Season one contains its five episodes and the 400 Days DLC, which shows several survirors’ first four hundread days of the Zombie Apocalypse. The characters from 400 Days also appeared in Season 2 and had more or less important roles in its story.
The Walking Dead Season One will be available starting October 21 on the next-gen, or rather current-gen consoles. On the same date, the physical, retail version of the second season on Xbox 360 and PS3 comes out. Also, and this, you have to admit, is a curious decision from Telltale, the digital version of Season 2 comes out a week earlier, on October 14. The developer will also release a retail version of The Walking Dead season 2 on PlayStation Vita in November.
After the final episode of Season 2 ended, Telltale confirmed that there will be a third season of The Walking Dead. This makes it their second game to receive more than two seasons, after “Sam and Max”, which got four. No additional details were given regarding this next season, but fans will certainly expect it after the endings of Season 2. Without spoiling anything (because this is the one game that should not be spoiled for the sake of new players), I can say that all the endings you can get leave certain matters open, setting up different directions for the story based on your choices.
Telltale is currently working on a game situated in the Borderlands universe, “Tales from the Borderlands”, in collaboration with the developer of the original game series, Gearbox Software. Additionally, the adventure game developer is preparing to release a game based on George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” saga and on the TV series based on it, “Game of Thrones”.
