Ematic HD 7: A cheap and reliable Android tablet

Ematic has released its 7 inch HD Android tablet which seems to have a lot to offer for a hell of a price. The Ematic HD 7 will go for just $39. Perhaps the price seems too good to be true which automatically implies that this Android tablet will be rubbish, but let’s see what it has in store before we jump to any conclusions. The Ematic HD 7 is fueled by a 1.5 Ghz Quad-Core processor with 1 GB of system memory. Its 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display outputs a maximum resolution of 1024 x 600, which is a little bit low, but still good enough for watching movies and playing games. The tablet is operated by an Android 4.2 OS (Jellybean) which comes preloaded.

Performance wise, the Android 4.2 “runs like a charm” on the Ematic HD 7. The HD 7 comes with 8 GB of on-board storage and external micro SD storage support of up to 32 GB. It also features a front facing camera, a micro USB 2.0 port, and a mini HDMI port – which is pretty impressive, considering that not even some of the high-end tablets are fitted with one. The build quality is also good, very close to what you’ll find at a premium tablet that would retail for 10 times as much. Ematic opted for a high quality soft rubberized material to cover the back side of the tablet, which will offer a premium feel. In terms of overall performance, the tablet performs very smoothly without any stuttering or lag. The Ematic HD 7 might prove hesitant only when it comes to playing games with high graphic requirements. Other than that, it will be perfect for Web browsing via Chrome, or in other apps such as Youtube and Netflix.

The only major flaw in the Ematic HD 7’s arsenal is its battery life, which is not so good. You will get 6 or 7 hours of Web browsing, 2 to 3 hours of video playback, and about 2 hours of gaming out of this tablet’s battery. Still, it’s not such a big deal considering its incredibly low price. Nullmag.com reports that Walmart is the only retailer that sells the Ematic HD 7 for just $39. You can get it from here. I think it’s safe to say that the Ematic HD 7 is a bargain. It does a good job for a very low price and has no rival on the market capable of offering as much as the HD 7 does. If you’re not looking for anything fancy and super high-tech, this is the tablet for you.
