Motorola has had a busy month unveiling the new Moto G and Moto X, not to mention the Moto 360, and the company is probably working on the Nexus 6, which is rumored to be released under a different name (Nexus X, Nexus 5 2014) on October 31. Even so, rumors of a new Motorola handset have emerged, talking about the new Motorola Droid Turbo which will supposedly be announced sometime next month.
Motorola is in a difficult spot at the moment, because it has been toggled back and forth between Google and Lenovo, many saying that if Lenovo was able to keep Motorola independent and “up front”, the company will remain successful. Nonetheless, it has been brought to our attention that Motorola’s VP of Product Management, Punit Soni, is leaving the company, which comes as a blow to Motorola and Lenovo as well.
Nonetheless, the announcement of the Motorola Droid Turbo is good news, since the new device will supposedly feature super-fast charging, hence the “Turbo” name. Besides the fast charging, we’ve heard that the Motorola Droid Turbo will have a 4.6 inch QHD display, with a 2560*1440 resolution and a whopping 640 ppi pixel density, Snapdragon 805 CPU clocked at 2.65 GHz, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, 20 MP rear camera and Android 4.4.4 KitKat on board. All of this will probably be powered by a battery between 3300 mAH and 3500 mAH at the very least, which coupled with a turbo charger, will be able to last for at least 8 hours on a 15 minute charge. I have to say: wow.
The Motorola Droid Turbo is no small feat, as you can see, although these specs haven’t been confirmed yet. Nonetheless, couple those behemoth specs with super fast charging and you’ve got a flagship on your hands. The Motorola Droid Turbo seems like the perfect competitor for the iPhone 6, with a similar size screen and awesome specs that can compete with the likes of the HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Alpha and more. Even though the Motorola Droid Turbo is a small device, it would be perfect for those who want a maneuverable device with insane power packed into it.
We’ve no information about the design or price of the Motorola Droid Turbo, but if we think about Motorola’s pricing history, the device probably won’t go over a $400 price mark. If the smartphone will be released in October, as rumors suggest, it will surely be a hit among Android enthusiasts and others as well, because it truly offers a new experience: powerful, yet very maneuverable device. Since phablets have been rolling out by the dozens, the people who prefer smaller phones – or have smaller hands, might just find the Motorola Droid Turbo the most attractive option out there.
